Snow Covered At The Ruins by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

Snow Covered At Ruins 1View of the Carriage House Ruins at Black Point from Scarborough Beach (in snow).

In the summer, there is a ubiquitous scene at the extreme northern end of Scarborough Beach. That is the ruins of the Carriage House. Some consider, with accuracy, that the ruins are at the southern end of Black Point. Either way, they are part of anyone's Narragansett, Rhode Island beach visit.

Those Carriage House ruins? They are still there in the winter too. It's colder, but they become part of the walk on the beach. Bundled in warm jackets, scarves, and gloves, feet in boots as we walk, the ruins remain.

The view is devoid of the greenery in the background and the Beach Roses in the foreground. The beach life replaced by snow. The snow becom

Indian Run Reservoir In Ice And Snow by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

https://www.madefromrigallery.com - “The hard soil and four months of snow make the inhabitants of the northern temperate zone wiser and abler than his fellow who enjoys the fixed smile of the tropics.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Indian Run Reservoir and its trails are in the heart of the "urban" part of the "suburban" village of Wakefield, Rhode Island. At one time in the not so distant past, it was part of a "rural route". An oasis of trails surrounding a reservoir fed by a myriad of rivers and streams. Snowed in and frozen in the winter.

It's cold, but I walk anyway. The air is bracing and clean. The sights are as sensational as a summer day.

South County Winter Scene by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

https://www.madefromrigallery.com - Three years. Well, more than three years, but three years simmering in the mind. Driving by one spot in all seasons thinking, "What a gorgeous scene that would be in winter".

My winter image has stayed in the back of my mind. Passing along this route when avoiding summer beach traffic. Avoiding the main traffic on Route 1 on school days. All those times passing by and thinking about how to find a place to pull over and take a winter shot in this one spot.

Well, it snowed last night. I was passing by. I pulled over. I climbed out of the van. I took the shot.

Southerly Morning View On The PawcatuckEarly in the day on the Pawcatuck River

Mornings are quiet on the river. It is as if there is an old man alongside the banks telling everything to slow down. The current runs with deceptive alacrity, but the appearance is quiet and serene. Reflective. Look south. Look north. Relax to the quiet rhythm of the river.
