LinkedIn Groups
LinkedIn has become a galaxy of businesses promoting branded content. Once you stop thinking of the professional social media channel as more than a haven for recruiters you can benefit from its contributors and listeners. According to the report, B2B Content Marketing 2014 Benchmarks, Budgets and Trends-North America, published by Marketing Profs and the Content Marketing Institute, 91% of B2B marketers are using LinkedIn. Take advantage of LinkedIn Groups. Answering a question and inserting relevant content, whether it be a link to a blog post or a webinar, is easy and effective.
Infographics and catchy multimedia
People respond to graphics. Not only are infographics eye candy for online readership, but they are easy to share socially. A vibrant, informative infographic illustrates what could otherwise be a dull chart or study. Use a tool like Picktochart to easily create one and promote your latest project or resource.
HARO (Help a Reporter Out)
Relevant media coverage is content promotion gold. Getting your content in front of relevant bloggers, reporters and columnists will do wonders for your credibility. Let’s not forget that once you have a relationship with a reporter in your industry the pitch isn’t so grueling. How to start that relationship, you ask? A tool called HARO (Help a Reporter Out) has turned PR on its head and allows industry professionals to respond directly to reporters on deadline and in need of expert sources. Lend your expertise and in turn you have promotion opportunity!
OneLoad Video Distribution
We can’t stress the power of visuals enough. Video content is a must. If you can package your content in video form make sure you’re sharing it on all the video channels. Luckily, there’s a tool for that: OneLoad. As recommended by Aaron Agius in a Kissmetrics blog post, 17 Advanced Methods for Promoting Your New Piece of Content, OneLoad distributes your video in one fell swoop to all of the video websites. “People are watching more video now than ever before. Search engines recognize this trend, and they’re giving video more space in the search engine results pages,” Agius explains.
Pinterest
Pin for the win! Pinterest is a great tool for illustrating the vision of your content. Remember to encourage your colleagues and peers to pin. “Content marketers quickly discovered the advantages of this photo-distribution channel when promoting content – not only to drastically raise the visibility of the content, but also to encourage it to be shared to an even bigger audience,” wrote Arnie Kuenn in his relevance.com article “7 Essential Content Promotion Tools and Platforms.”
Remarketing
Much of Google’s data can be used to our marketing benefit. Promote to the obvious: people who have already viewed your content. Remarking to already interested parties is an untapped resource and can give you easy conversions!
Facebook ads
Facebook has gone through significant enhancements, to the chagrin of non-marketers but to the delight of businesses looking to target and promote to their target audience. Make sure to set aside budget to boosting your branded posts. With the bevy of content on Facebook, you don’t want to risk your content getting lost on this social shuffle of information.
Promoted Tweets (See above, but in the Twitterverse)

StumbleUpon
Once this site was a place for procrastinating students to find fun articles and blogs relating to their interests. Now it’s a place for professionals to find content that only relates to their interests and industry. Agius suggests, “Make sure your content has a clear and interesting title along with some kind of image at the top so you can intrigue the StumbleUpon audience.”
Webinar
When it’s not feasible to have an in-person presentation or host an event, webinars are an incredible content promotion opportunity. Showcase the experts in your company and gain new leads by way of registrations.
