31 Days of Hell: Bubba, The Redneck Werewolf (2016) - Reviewed

Posted By themoviesleuth 1079 days ago on Movies - Well, this came out of left field!  Bubba the Redneck Werewolf cracked me up at the title when I saw it on the case, and it kept me laughing as I put the DVD in my player.  I really was not expecting much at all, but I knew I needed to experience this one whether it bombed with me or not.Well, no surprise, Bubba the Redneck Werewolf is completely ridiculous, right out of the gate.  You know what though, I was cracking up!  It is rare that I laugh out loud by myself watching a movie, but I found myself roaring out frequently witnessing the childish, hilarious, and grin-inducing nonsense Bubba the Redneck Werewolf shoves down your throat.Bubba the Redneck Werewolf pulls no punches in its humor and gore, a lot of times mixing the two.  I guess I have a weakness for the lowbrow chaos that a film like Bubba the Redneck Werewolf splatters on the wall. You can literally smell the cheese coming off of this film as you watch it.  But it all seems to work, because it is obvious that this is how director Brendan J. Rogers and crew wanted it to look and feel.  If you for a second try to take this film seriously, you should be eaten by Bubba the Redneck Werewolf himself. Come on, live a little and just have fun for a change -- that is what I did with this film. With all the fun and gory goofiness going on with Bubba the Redneck Werewolf, major points come off for the special effects in the film.  I am not very big on special effects myself, but you can at least spend a few dollars to make them remotely look real and not some gif you inserted in the frame that you made with a cracked version of Photoshop.  Bubba the Redneck Werewolf does not have a lot of special effects, and I think they could have made what little they had look a lot better. That's some good crack rock.  All in all though, Bubba the Redneck Werewolf is an enjoyable 80 minutes for a lot of squeamish gut laughs in the lower crust category.  Bubba the Redneck Werewolf took me back to a time when all I used to watch were goofy films of this sort, and I think it may have sparked that fire in me again.Share this review before the full moon or else.  Score-Scott W.
