I use Spam Free Wordpress and I have to say... the number of spam like comments I receive is actually zero. It could be nobody reads my blog or cares to spam (doubtful) or that the plug-in is working. I used Askimet before and it worked fine but I had to go thru and delete my spam comments. Not a big deal but it didn't catch it all. For whatever reason, I've used Spam Free Wordpress for about a year and it's worked flawlessly. (FYI.. I am just a user of that plug-in. Not the developer. No affiliation whatsoever).
