http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - Director Denis Villeneuve confirmed yesterday that filming has started on his ambitious Dune project, which he has also gone on record stating may have more than one film to tell the whole story. In addition to an already impressively star-studded cast, Hans Zimmer has also confirmed that he will be scoring the film, following up his triumphant soundtrack to Villeneuve's previous film Blade Runner 2049. With this developing announcement, it seems like Dune might be one of the most ambitious collaborations of the decade, perhaps even the century. Following a failed adaptation from David Lynch back in 1984, the Frank Herbert bestseller has been deemed "unfilmable," with a television miniseries airing on the SyFy channel back in 2000. The confirmed cast members of Villeneuve's Dune, which seems to contain nearly the entirety of Hollywood, has been confirmed through a series of announcements, including the likes of Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, David Dastmalchian, Charlotte Rampling, Chang Chen (of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fame), and Stephen Henderson from Fences. While the cast listing is impressive, it still remains to be seen whether or not this massive array of talent will be enough to perfectly pull off Herbert's daunting story. Villeneueve penned the screenplay alongside Eric Roth and Prometheus and Doctor Strange writer Jon Spaihts. Dune is slated for a 2020 release.
