Bermuda may not strike you as the family vacation destination of choice, but more and more families are taking their children on cruises with them, and Bermuda is often the destination they visit. If you are taking in the sights of Bermuda with your kids in tow, here are some locations to visit to ensure everyone has a great time.
Snorkel Park
What kid on an island is not going to be attracted to the beach? Enjoy the fun of water safely at Snorkel Park. Located in Sandy’s Parish, this little cove has a white sand beach that was laid out with children in mind. You can snorkel in shallow waters and see sunken cannons and other underwater features teeming with colorful marine life, without fear of waves. A couple of water slides make swimming even more fun for the kids at this destination.

Maritime Museum
If you take the kids to the Maritime Museum, they can see artifacts from ancient shipwrecks, exhibits showcasing the history of the islands and the culture of the people of Bermuda, but what is the biggest attraction here is the adjacent Dolphin Quest exhibit. Admission to the Maritime Museum gets your kids a glimpse of the dolphins, and if you want to pay an additional fee, you can actually swim with the friendly marine mammals. While the fee for this experience is quite high, it is definitely something your children will never forget.
Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute
The Maritime Museum may not be the most kid-friendly attraction, outside of the dolphins, but the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute is! The exhibits here focus on the relationship between people and the ocean. Here kids can experience a virtual dive, see extensive shell collections, learn what SCUBA diving is like and even see artifacts from the Titanic. Many of the exhibits are hands-on, so kids feel welcome throughout their visit.
Grotto Bay Hotel Caves
The Grotto Bay Hotel has caves that you can explore without paying any admission fee. These are small and just about the right size for kids, without the fear factor of deeper, darker caves. Kids will enjoy exploring the world underground, and the cool recesses of the cave provide a respite on particularly warm days.
Shelley Bay
Your kids will want to swim when you visit Bermuda, but you need to be sure they can do so safely. The waters at Shelley Bay are particularly calm, and the area is shallow as well. This makes it an ideal swimming beach for families traveling with children.
Whether you spend most of your time on the beach or head into the island to explore, you will find plenty to do to keep your kids busy and engaged when visiting Bermuda. So book a kid-friendly cruise and set sail for the pink sands of this popular island destination.
