I am finally done with the completion of our second Airbnb! I recently shared the first unit in this post and can’t wait to give you all the details on our second unit!Both of our airbnbs have been up and running for about a month now and we have already learned so much. For this month’s mood board I am sharing with you a bathroom refresh that I did recently. I love the warm, rich colors of this design with its gold accents. With fall well under way these colors are screaming to be used! I am thinking you could even seasonally decorate this room with some pumpkins and decorative gourds-for the truly festive. For this bathroom I chose classic elements for a timeless look with a modern re-rake. White subway tile with vintage inspired floor tiles are done in a standard black and white that goes with anything. A decorative Persian rug* in rich colors adds warmth and depth in a sophisticated way while the more modern fixtures in gold gives the room clean lines and a contemporary feel. I’m back! It has been awhile since I have been back in the United States and had a chance to update my blog. A LOT has happened and I can’t wait to catch you all up. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, not only are we gearing up for all the good holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!) but it’s also sweater weather! Recently I’ve been contemplating an upgrade in my home ceiling lights. Right now we have the standard fixtures that came with the house. Lighting, in my opinion, is one of the most over looked aspects of a room’s design. Not just the lack of lighting, but the lack of a fun variety and style of lighting. This month’s mood board is for the kids! I was given a project to help create a functional playroom space for two little girls and it was so much fun! For this design I wanted to use lots of fun vibrant colors and incorporate the girls’ love of unicorns and dinosaurs. To give the room some extra whimsy I suggest a cloud wallpaper on the ceiling with bright white wall paint. I wanted to separate the room into different areas with the help of rugs and decor. The center of the room can be anchored by a table and chairs with a large ombre rainbow area rug underneath. Bookcases and bookshelves can easily line a wall and allow for ample storage while also allowing for a great place to read and stretch out. With Spring under way I am all about opening those windows and letting some natural sunlight in! There is nothing I love more than a warm day with a cool breeze. In my opinion few things are better than a beautiful spring day with the sun high, plants in bloom and all things fresh and green. Which has led me to my latest venture-house plants.I’ll be the first to admit I have no green thumb, I lack the patience, knowledge and routine required of keeping most plants alive. But I love them-none the less. So this year I decided I was going to try it and for my birthday I received a Sansevieria plant. It is a rather low maintenance plant-which I need and so far it is going good.All this has lead me to today’s topic on plants: the easy and the pet friendly.

This past year my husband and I moved into the historic neighborhood of Aksarben in Omaha, NE. We purchased a triplex with the intent of living in one of the units and renting out the other two. The home has darling post-war architecture with rounded doorways and built-in bookshelves. I have long been a fan of all things vintage, retro and mid-century modern, so upon first seeing this empty shell I not only fell in love immediately but could see all kinds of potential to come!

Every once in awhile you meet someone that is at the same time inspiring, giving, passionate, talented and kind. I am lucky enough to know three such ladies and had the absolute pleasure of getting to team up with them on a new rom-com series called, “Confessions From the Friendzone.” I am one of the Producers and as luck would have it, also the Production Designer.With four different locations to shoot at, two weeks to shoot in, and countless hours of prep-we had our work cut out for is. Fortunately my collaborative team of girls let me run wild with my design ideas. Bless them for trusting me and letting me do my thing-it is always easier (and more fun) when your co-workers trust you and value your work. (Have I mentioned how much I love these girls and working with them?!?)

Since my trips to the middle east this past year I have been stocking up on some great artifacts, textiles and souvenirs. I knew I wanted to include them in our new home and with our move done I am so happy to share how I have added these unique pieces to my design. While on my trip in Doha (you can read about it here!) I picked up the most magical lamp. It is absolutely swoon worthy and every time I see it all lit up I fall in love with it all over again. It matches absolutely nothing in my home-or so I thought. I just moved to NYC for the next few months and my temporary apartment is the cutest-but it is SMALL! It has me doing some serious thinking about how to incorporate an office space in a functional and efficient way without taking up any room. With Fourth of July this week and lots of fun family BBQs planned it has gotten me seriously thinking about my outdoor space. I will be the first to admit that I do not have a green thumb. I am not particularly patient when it comes to plants and lack any serious desire to garden. But I do so enjoy a lovely landscaped yard with designated lounge space to enjoy the best of summer in. Keeping in mind my lack of landscape skills I have been trying to find easy outdoor solutions that still look great. I compiled some of my favorite finds so far-and who knows, hopefully in the near future I’ll tackle my jungle of weeds and get serious about designing my backyard.

If you saw my Home Tour, you know that one of my favorite parts of our current house is all its built-in nooks and crannies. One particular favorite is our built-in bookshelf in the living room. It is on a curved corner and very much in plain sight. With the majority of my time being spent on the house’s layout at large, I didn’t have time to really focus on the little details (like this bookcase). I knew I wanted to add some extra pizzaz to it and came up with the idea to wallpaper it!
