http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - Jordan Graham’s Sator is a personal piece for him.  His dearly departed grandmother, June Peterson, battled dementia in her final years, and during that time, she claims to have been frequently visited by a spirit guardian named Sator.  Encouragedby a medium to practice spirit writing, the grandmother wrote volumes regarding this entity, and would relay his oftentimes ominous messages to her family.  Graham had the foresight to record these moments with her, and from that, the inspiration sprung for this horror film. Interspersed with Hi-8, 4:3, black and white footage of June Peterson and her chilling writings, Graham’s darkly stunning Sator tells the tale of a bro

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - Courtesy of New World TelevisionIt's that time again where we finally have a piece of news that isn't about something getting delayed by the Covid-19 crisis. While everything else is slowly starting to reopen, studios are developing and looking into whatever they can make when things get back to normal again. Yep, these stories will keep happening as the world tries to return to normal. This week, we are learning about a reboot of The Wonder Years happening at ABC. Earlier this week, ABC has given the reboot a pilot order. The show will take place in the late sixties just like the original series. This time, however, the series will be from the perspective of a black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama and how they made sure that it was "the wonder years" for their family too.

Television: Resident Alien Ep. 1 (2021) - Reviewed

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com -  Alan Tudyk has long been a favorite actor of mine. Like many of my peers, I came to know him as Wash on the TV series Firefly and its sequel film Serenity. My first exposure to just what a chameleon he could be, however, was in an underrated Sandra Bullock movie, 28 Days, wherein he plays an addict who brings some much-needed humor to an otherwise serious movie. Over the years, he’s played comedic characters as well as delightfully sinister villains, and his new show, Resident Alien, happily allows him to blend the funny with the menace quite nicely. Tudyk plays an alien, Captain Hah Re, who crash-lands in a small, isolated Colorado town during a snowstorm. After meeting and supposedly killing Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle, Hah Re assumes Harry’s identity and spends four months isola

The Movie Sleuth's Top Five Action Figures of 2020

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - As a preamble to this, I'm clarifying that I am only reviewing figures that came out in 2020 and that I purchased. I can't and won't review anything I don't have my hands on. I dialed back my spending quite a bit this year so its not as abundant in terms of selection but I chose wisely, in my opinion. My main collection focus is Transformers but I venture out of those bounds on occasion. With those parameters set, let's dive right in! Masterpiece Blackarachnia: With the Masterpiece line, you can rely on a few things. Great paint applications, accessories from nearly every major moment that character had in its respective show, and 'perfect' transformations. To be clear, 'perfect' transformations refers to no parts forming or disassembly to make the figure convert from one form to the

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com -  Courtesy: Channel 4For the last four years, since the beloved TV series moved from BBC to Channel 4, The Great British Bake Off (I just can't call it The Great British Baking Show) has aired a between-seasons special miniseries where celebrities enter the Bake Off tent, and compete as a fundraiser for Stand Up To Cancer. Some of the biggest stars to appear on The Great Celebrity Bake-Off (or The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake-Off, to use its official, but much more clunky title) in the past have included John Lithgow, Russel Brand, Louis Theroux, James Blunt, Richard Dreyfuss, and a whole host of notable British comedians who frequent shows like Taskmaster, 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, QI, and Big Fat Quiz. But this year, Bake Off has gathered easily its most star-studded line-up

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - Image Courtesy of IndieWireNew on Netflix, Radium Girls tells the true story of watch dial painters in the 1920s who suffered horrendous illnesses from consuming radioactive material over years of using paint mixed with radium. The “Undark” paint made watch faces glow in the dark, making the watches a hot commodity. Despite the passage of the food and drug safety act in 1906, Radium was being sold in bottles as a wonder drug that could cure anything from cancer to impotence, while American Radium knew full well the deadly effects of radiation. The film tells the story of watch painters who fell ill after consuming large amounts of radium paint from licking paintbrushes. Directors Lydia Dean Pilcher and Ginny Mohler took this source material and didn’t do a whole lot with it. Strange pacin

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - Nothing defines early 2000’s television more than the uprising of the reality television star:  there have been celebutantes, dating show contestants, and “survivors” of various types infesting the media for the past few decades with no signs of stopping anytime soon.  Proving Andy Warhol’s concept of everyone’s “15 minutes of fame,” we’ve seen an embarrassing assortment of personalities come and go, while others have lingered around us like a stubborn venereal disease over the years.  It is a subject matter that has been oft-parodied, and here we have yet another example of this that nobody asked for.Steven Jay Bernheim’s satirical Reality Queen! explores the highs and lows of the reality star as we follow an heiress’s antics in front of the public eye.  London Logo (

More Knives Out: Rian Johnson Reportedly Developing Sequel Script

After his Star Wars film, Johnson decided to make a swift turn into a different genre. And it proved to be a financial positive for all those involved. Now, Lionsgate has commissioned Johnson to develop a script for a potential sequel to the hit film. Apparently, the new project would no focus on the same family from Knives Out but would have Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) investigating a new crime. With huge word of mouth, excellent box office, and critical momentum, Knives Out proved to be a worthwhile venture for all involved. A sequel that sees the Craig character returning to solve another murder mystery would most likely be a welcomed addition. From the time Knives Out was

The Force is Strong: The Rise of Skywalker Will Claim Third Weekend Victory

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - Even as the final film in the Skywalker saga continues to separate fans and critics, the movie seems to be cranking out some decent numbers at the domestic box office. While it's still trailing Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi, the newest Star Wars movie will claim a third weekend as the champ in the U.S.. With it's numbers faltering a bit, the movie will see another $36 million in ticket sales over the post holiday run. Bringing in another $11 million on Friday alone, Disney and Lucasfilm surely won't be disappointed after once again beating down its competition. However, with the only other big budget contender being Jumanji: The Next Level, it didn't really have too much to contend with. Still, The Rise of Skywalker is not really up to snuff with other entries in the saga. Cult Corner: Taking a Ride with the Devil: The Hitcher (1986)

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com -  How do you like "Shitsville"?Although The Hitcher (1986) was panned by most critics on its release, it stands out from the myriad of other '80s slashers because it feels more like an allegory than a straightforward tale of a killer and his victims. The story starts out unassuming as it follows a young man named Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell) who is on the road delivering a car from Chicago to San Diego. The skyline on the highway is filled with dark and foreboding storm clouds, a sign of things to come. A torrential rain starts to fall and he sees a lone figure staggering up the road. Impulsively he stops and offers the man a ride. As he opens the door to the sopping wet figure he quips "My mother told me to never do this." His mother was right. The hitcher's name

The Movie Sleuth's Top 5 of 2019

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - The TMS Top 5 of 2019Many of The Movie Sleuth writers have considered 2019 a great year for cinema. From blockbusters, to indie titles, and foreign films, our top 5 shows the same diversity we saw in the theater this year. Although there were dozens of great features to pick from, this is what we came up with by using a group voting system. Hopefully you enjoy our picks. #5 MidsommarIn a follow-up to critically-acclaimed Hereditary, Midsommar delivers as another idiosyncratic horror film. Midsommar also functions as an inverted allegory: wherein the “bigger”, more diegetic story is that of a cultish group who celebrates the Summer Solstice through sacrifice; the “smaller” story, but perhaps the more salient one, is that of a young woman who is trying to figure out her way through a r
