Resident Evil: New Movie Title Revealed and Plot Details Announced

Posted By themoviesleuth 1213 days ago on Entertainment -  Not too long ago a new Resident Evil movie and television series were announced. When the pandemic broke out, things went awfully silent for a while. Well it looks like we're finally starting to get more details about the brand new RE movie as horror director Johannes Roberts is finally breaking his silence about his movie. His previous works include the two 47 Meters down shark attack movies and the sequel The Strangers: Prey at Night. He's moved on to bigger things by taking on the Resident Evil franchise and will hopefully continue on with more sequels. Just yesterday it was announced that the new film will be called Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City. It's been said that this will play much more closely to the source material. Roberts revealed at SXSW that this will be fully inspired by the video games with the movie taking place in 1998. He also says that this will not have anything to do with the previous films starring Milla Jovovich, but will instead leave those as their own separate creative entity:"Obviously, there is the Resident Evil film franchise and this movie doesn't have anything to do with that. It's a whole separate origin story based in the roots of the video game series and the world of horror. We're not making a remake. We're going in a completely different direction. It was a real pleasure to be given the reins of a new franchise, hopefully, that really is its own thing."Many complained that the RE movies with Jovovich weren't adapted from the games and lost the core horror ideas, trading them for more action-centric stories. The new movie will be adapting the first two games in the original series to film. -CG (function() { var zergnet = document.createElement('script'); zergnet.type = 'text/javascript'; zergnet.async = true; zergnet.src = (document.location.protocol == "https:" ?
