Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now: Shoplifters of the World (2021) - Reviewed

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com - Stop me if you think you've heard this one before..... This spring’s release of Shoplifters Of The World drops on streaming this weekend after several delays amid a global pandemic that’s seen the indie film world struggle to cope. This tongue in cheek copycat of Airheads (1994) is a disappointing effort that won’t even satisfy die hard Smiths fans like myself. Instead, the movie is a ninety minute affair in the purest of annoyances. The dialogue is not natural and stilted. Characters are one sided caricatures of routinely standard ‘80s tropes, personal sexuality is assaulted by terrible cliches and branding, all the while attempting to cash in on current retro trends.Paired with awful acting and writing all around, the only saving grace is the soundtrack by The Smiths, whi

The "Write" Time?

http://laurellit.com - Lately, I've been looking for a sign that I should my job of 21 years, complete my MFA in creative writing, and have time to develop and promote my novels and my blog. To some, this may seem like a no-brainer. Coming 2 America review. It’s a sequel that none asked for. It’s also fun but little more than a glitzy homage to the 1988 movie.

http://www.spoilerfreemoviesleuth.com -  Writer-director Neil Burger started out strong with his magician romance The Illusionist before moving onto young adult science fiction thriller fare with the first Divergent film.  His latest cinematic venture Voyagers, a kind of Lord of the Flies meets Passengersthriller, finds the director returning to young adult sci-fi as well as writing, directing and even producing the project.  Starring Colin Farrell, Tye Sheridan, Lily-Rose Depp and Fionn Whitehead, the film stars a largely young adult cast and concerns an Interstellar-like premise involving young astronauts searching for life off of a dying Earth.  To keep the next generation of artificially inseminated youths under control until they reach their intergalactic destination, they’re administered drugs to
