Marsh Grass by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

https://www.madefromrigallery.com - There is a certain undefined quiet comfort in being by marsh grass. One experiences a stillness that is only disturbed by the wind ruffling the grasses.

Marsh Grass

Marsh GrassMarsh grass is seen in the marsh area of Fox Hill Pond abutting Dutch Harbor, Jamestown, Rhode Island. A peaceful scene with marinas and the Newport Pell Bridge in the background.

That undefined quiet is one of the things that signify the benefits of marshland. Marshes are buffers between wave and storm action of the ocean or bay and more stable, fertile ground. Marshes and distribute nutrients into that fertile soil and filter out pollutants. They are also breeding grounds for commercial and recreational fish.

The quiet peace of looking at marsh grass holds a great deal of meaning. Given the calm fee

South County Winter Scene by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

https://www.madefromrigallery.com - Three years. Well, more than three years, but three years simmering in the mind. Driving by one spot in all seasons thinking, "What a gorgeous scene that would be in winter".

My winter image has stayed in the back of my mind. Passing along this route when avoiding summer beach traffic. Avoiding the main traffic on Route 1 on school days. All those times passing by and thinking about how to find a place to pull over and take a winter shot in this one spot.

Well, it snowed last night. I was passing by. I pulled over. I climbed out of the van. I took the shot.

The Moment by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

https://www.madefromrigallery.com - Every storm has a moment. That moment is where the storm starts to break up, the clouds part, and the sun asserts its authority over the sky. I always find that moment as hopeful as it is beautiful.

How America’s Insidious Work Culture is Destroying Lives

https://partnersinfire.com - Americans are crazy (I can say that proudly, as an American). We have tons of pride in weird things and little to no pride in important things. “Wow, you worked 120 hours this week? You’re a rock star!” compared to “You stay home with the kids? What do you do all day?”.  I struggle so …

Dry Wind At East Matunuck Beach by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

https://www.madefromrigallery.com - This is what a clear winter day looks like at the beach. That stark blue sky? That's the result of a lack of moisture in the air. On this day, the condition couples with a wind that dried everything out. As the waves moved in on one side, the sand blew along in sympathetic waves with no moisture to hold it down.

The East Matunuck Beach wind turbine illustrates the strength of the wind. The tower was vibrating with a sound that indicated a material resonant frequency.
