The video game from Naughty Dog is being turned into a live action series that's set to premiere on HBO Max some time next year. The story tells of Joel and Ellie, 20 years after civilization has been decimated. The two make their way across the apocalyptic landscape attempting to survive at all costs. The show stars The Mandalorian's Pedro Pascal in the central role of Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. The series that's been in the works for a couple years is officially filming with a first set photo posted by co-star Gabriel Luna. The photo features game characters Luna, Joel, and Sarah in a scene that appears to be from the beginning of the game.

Just this week it was teased that the next movies might feature a return for Paul Walker's character via visual effects in F10 and F11. But today, word broke that Universal is moving forward on a spin off feature that will focus on Charlize Theron's cyber antagonist, Cipher. She first appeared in the eighth entry, The Fate of the Furious and returned for F9. Now they want to give her a movie that will be strictly focused on the development of her character. While fans of the Alien saga continue to wonder if there will ever be another movie, we've been given some good news over the last few months. A television show is in active production and Aliens is getting a new direct sequel from Marvel Comics. Also, it looks like the franchised universe will continue on in video game form. The latest news says that the upcoming Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be releasing to a multitude of gaming platforms later this summer.
