With his new The Suicide Squad gearing up for release this summer, he's in the early planning stages of his Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 but is also working tirelessly towards another GOTG release, a brand new feature ride. The director is now filming all new footage for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride which will premiere at Walt Disney World's Epcot in 2022. His next sequel is in the pre-planning stages and will release in 2023, but before that he's going to be filming brand new Guardians footage for the Disney park. While the full Avengers experience will be located at the California location, Cosmic Rewind will only be featured at the Florida location. Epcot

While interest has seemed to dwindle over the strange tale of Joe Exotic and the Tiger King scandals and streaming series, it appears to be heating up again. With Nicolas Cage set to appear in one project for CBS Television, NBC Universal has their very own Tiger King saga in the works. You might remember that Kate McKinnon is on board as the lead star, Carol Baskin. But who will be her Joe Exotic? None other than John Cameron Mitchell!Mitchell is best known for co-creating the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. His work on the Broadway version earned him the Tony Award for best revival of a musical and a special Tony for performance. He also directed and starred in the film version of Hedwig and won Best Director at Sundance for it. Mitchell’s other film directing credits

image courtesy WBHere we are, four years later discussing the super divisive Zack Snyder film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. With the Snyder cut proving to be a massive hit for HBO Max and Warner Bros. still saying they have no interest in continuing the franchise forward with the director, there is still discussion around the movie that saw two of DC's biggest heroes go head to head. And the guys behind the film are still readily talking about the movie as well. It's now been revealed that Zack Snyder and Chris Terrio took much of its inspiration from the Michael Mann heist classic, Heat. Terrio also recently said that the executives at WB had it out for the film from the start and sabotaged its release by cutting thirty important minutes from the movie. Later on, much of that foot

As DC fans continue to petition Warner Bros. to #RestoreTheSnyderverse, actor Joe Manganiello has his very own ideas about the character he plays, Deathstroke. Initially he was meant to play the villain in Ben Affleck's The Batman. But as things changed, the Deathstroke villain arc was removed and Manganiello only got a few minutes of screen time. Now, the actor says he thinks that WB and HBO Max should team up for an origin show that would tell the backstory for Slade Wilson. At one point there was a Deathstroke movie planned with The Raid director Gareth Evans at the helm. As the DC film universe struggled to find a footing, the project was ultimately cancelled. It now appears that Deathstroke has no clear path to a feature film or any further examination of the character. Ho

The complexities of marriage are often explored in cinema. Beyond the traditional struggles that relationships endear, a subgenre involves the loss of identity and freedom that is often experienced in certain relationships. As we age, notions of the past become ghosts, haunting the subconscious with what could have been. It is only fitting that Travis Steven's neo-vampire story stars a pair of horror icons whose filmographies are part of the foundation of modern independent American horror films. Featuring a darkly humorous script, an unforgettable duo of lead performances, and a wealth of entrancing visuals, Jakob's Wife is the first legitimate horror experience of the year. Anne, the subdued wife of a milquetoast preacher, is bitten by a vam

In a bit of breaking early afternoon news, the next Indiana Jones adventure has added another cast member. It's just been announced that Mads Mikkelsen will be joining the fifth installment of the series. Word just broke via Deadline a few minutes ago. Mikkelsen will join Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge in what is said to be the final installment in the decades long series about the archaeologist. There is no word on who he'll be playing in the movie as no plot details or title have been announced. For the next film, James Mangold will be taking over directorial duties as Steven Spielberg stepped back from the project. He'll still be executing producer duties as well as Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel. John Williams will also be returning to score the

Trash cinema is a blessed genre unto itself. Tom Ritter's absolutely insane opus, Sharks of the Corn is a pinnacle of low budget horror. It's impossible not to be reminded of Wes Craven's horror epic Shocker when viewing, the film is over two hours and weaves not so complex threads together to create a wonderfully putrid amalgam of sex, spies, cultists, corn, and sharks. Featuring a plethora of hilarious kill scenes, basement level special effects, and an undeniable love for all things horror, this is a charming homage to the many reasons we love movies. Sharks are manifesting in the corn fields of Druid Hills, killing man, woman, and child. A police chief, a shady criminal, a journalist, and a serial killer converge on the fields in a race against

William Friedkin’s most overlooked and hard-to-obtain serial killer thriller film Rampage, based on the book of the same name by William P. Wood, is a film with highly checkered past that remains virtually unseen and is rarely spoken of these days. Despite some of the director’s even harder to see films such as Sorcerer and Cruising getting lavish home video special editions years later, Rampage remains curiously under the Friedkin fan’s radar. A shame because what’s here is among the director’s most underrated chillers ripe for rediscovery and recognition with some of the most uncompromisingly frightening material of Friedkin’s career. Charlie Reece (Alex McArthur) is a remorseless vampiric serial murderer who shoots and mutilates his victims before drinking their

It's Monday and you know what that means! A lot of interesting news is hitting the web. This afternoon, it's been announced that Jordan Vogt-Roberts will be helming the live action film adaptation of Gundam for the streaming monolith, Netflix. His last film for Legendary was 2017's Monsterverse hit Kong:Skull Island and now he'll move on to the futuristic universe of Mecha in a brand new movie that's being readied for production. Legendary and Netflix recently worked on Enola Holmes, Pacific Rim: Uprising and Spectral together before re-teaming for this new iteration of Gundam. While there are no story or plot details announced yet, the script is being written by Brian K. Vaughan. Initially announced way back in 2018, the film has been on the back burner for three years now. Gu

It has been a long development for the fifth Indiana Jones movie. So long that this writer was in middle school when development started on it and has now graduated from college and is still waiting for it. Ever since the 2008 release of Crystal Skull, LucasFilm has been trying to make a fifth installment. After a long time in development, there is now forward momentum regarding the future of the Indiana Jones series. You may remember that for the first time in the series history, Spielberg will not direct the film. He will remain on board as a producer that is actively involved with the next installment of the series. Sources that the decision for Spielberg to step out of the chair was his own as he wanted to pass on the bullwhip to the next generation of filmmakers and his schedule

image courtesy Marvel StudiosIt's been a while since we've heard much news about the Disney+ Moon Knight series starring Oscar Isaac. But here he is training for the role in the latest Marvel show that will hit the streaming service. Isaac will be playing Marc Spector with Ethan Hawke also taking up a lead role in the series. It will be interesting to see what they do with this character as the production company digs deeper into the large library of characters that Marvel has. This is the first live action iteration of Moon Knight and will hopefully expand into the film universe as well. As of right now, there are only six episodes planned for the limited run event series. This will also be the first time that Isaac has taken up a lead role for a television project. Check out the la

Stop me if you think you've heard this one before..... This spring’s release of Shoplifters Of The World drops on streaming this weekend after several delays amid a global pandemic that’s seen the indie film world struggle to cope. This tongue in cheek copycat of Airheads (1994) is a disappointing effort that won’t even satisfy die hard Smiths fans like myself. Instead, the movie is a ninety minute affair in the purest of annoyances. The dialogue is not natural and stilted. Characters are one sided caricatures of routinely standard ‘80s tropes, personal sexuality is assaulted by terrible cliches and branding, all the while attempting to cash in on current retro trends.Paired with awful acting and writing all around, the only saving grace is the soundtrack by The Smiths, whi

Stanley, a director, and his wife, Alexa, leave a party to visit Tomas, the editor of Stanley’s latest movie. Stanley wants to see the newest cut of his work but, instead, Tomas shows him something that defies reality. This is the plot of the horror short film Electromagnetic. It establishes its characters and premise in a small dialogue exchange in the first couple of minutes that efficiently conveys everything the audience needs to know about this situation. Then, it gets Stanley and Tomas alone. The relationships between the characters are painted in broad strokes, so it can speed past them quickly to get to the crux of its action. Since this is a genre piece, and the most interesting moments occur once the men are in Tomas’ studio, that approach works strongly in its favor. The
