For this month’s mood board I am sharing with you a bathroom refresh that I did recently. I love the warm, rich colors of this design with its gold accents. With fall well under way these colors are screaming to be used! I am thinking you could even seasonally decorate this room with some pumpkins and decorative gourds-for the truly festive. For this bathroom I chose classic elements for a timeless look with a modern re-rake. White subway tile with vintage inspired floor tiles are done in a standard black and white that goes with anything. I am finally done with the completion of our second Airbnb! I recently shared the first unit in this post and can’t wait to give you all the details on our second unit!Both of our airbnbs have been up and running for about a month now and we have already learned so much. This past year my husband and I moved into the historic neighborhood of Aksarben in Omaha, NE. We purchased a triplex with the intent of living in one of the units and renting out the other two. The home has darling post-war architecture with rounded doorways and built-in bookshelves. I have long been a fan of all things vintage, retro and mid-century modern, so upon first seeing this empty shell I not only fell in love immediately but could see all kinds of potential to come!

Every once in awhile you meet someone that is at the same time inspiring, giving, passionate, talented and kind. I am lucky enough to know three such ladies and had the absolute pleasure of getting to team up with them on a new rom-com series called, “Confessions From the Friendzone.” I am one of the Producers and as luck would have it, also the Production Designer.With four different locations to shoot at, two weeks to shoot in, and countless hours of prep-we had our work cut out for is. Fortunately my collaborative team of girls let me run wild with my design ideas. Bless them for trusting me and letting me do my thing-it is always easier (and more fun) when your co-workers trust you and value your work. (Have I mentioned how much I love these girls and working with them?!?)

Since my trips to the middle east this past year I have been stocking up on some great artifacts, textiles and souvenirs. I knew I wanted to include them in our new home and with our move done I am so happy to share how I have added these unique pieces to my design. While on my trip in Doha (you can read about it here!) I picked up the most magical lamp. It is absolutely swoon worthy and every time I see it all lit up I fall in love with it all over again. It matches absolutely nothing in my home-or so I thought. My husband and I recently purchased a triplex in Omaha, NE. We are keeping one of the units as our own so we have a place to stay and live while here and then renting out the other two as Airbnbs. This is something we have never done before but are learning-wish us luck.

I just moved to NYC for the next few months and my temporary apartment is the cutest-but it is SMALL! It has me doing some serious thinking about how to incorporate an office space in a functional and efficient way without taking up any room. With Fourth of July this week and lots of fun family BBQs planned it has gotten me seriously thinking about my outdoor space. I will be the first to admit that I do not have a green thumb. I am not particularly patient when it comes to plants and lack any serious desire to garden. But I do so enjoy a lovely landscaped yard with designated lounge space to enjoy the best of summer in. Keeping in mind my lack of landscape skills I have been trying to find easy outdoor solutions that still look great. I compiled some of my favorite finds so far-and who knows, hopefully in the near future I’ll tackle my jungle of weeds and get serious about designing my backyard.

If you saw my Home Tour, you know that one of my favorite parts of our current house is all its built-in nooks and crannies. One particular favorite is our built-in bookshelf in the living room. It is on a curved corner and very much in plain sight. With the majority of my time being spent on the house’s layout at large, I didn’t have time to really focus on the little details (like this bookcase). I knew I wanted to add some extra pizzaz to it and came up with the idea to wallpaper it!

Something that I have always wanted to learn how to do is tile! I’ve been looking into classes at places like Home Depot and can’t wait to get my hands on a wet saw! But in the mean time I have been researching different tiles for a clients bathroom makeover. Below are some of my favorites to date. Happy Monday! To start off the week I have another Mood Board for you. This one is an office space that I recently did for a client. She wanted something fresh and modern feeling that incorporated the very popular color combo of blue and blush pink. Per the client’s request, I used blue and blush pink as the central color theme with fresh white walls to keep the office space crisp, clean and modern looking.

This design is one I did for a client’s master bedroom. I wanted to create separate spaces within their long rectangular room to allow for a more formal sitting area in front of the bed. I also wanted the room to be more contemporary while remaining inviting. Having a place you can feel at home in, is just as important as good design esthetic. To do this I incorporated a lot of modern elements and mid-century style furniture with soft fabrics and pastel colors. Nothing too harsh. Adding some gold and pink accents creates a feminine touch and combining different patterns adds depth and interest. I suggested a light blue paint color for the walls to add more color to the room in a subtle yet neutral way. The end design turned out to be one of my favorites and I hope you agree!

It’s the start of another week which means is must be MOOD BOARD MONDAY! Today I am featuring a more modern design with pops of color that I recently did for a client moving to a new house. They wanted something fresh and a little more modern while still keeping the feel of the space inviting. They key was to add lots of bold colors-my trick to doing this without making the space seem overwhelming is to keep a neutral consistent throughout. I did this by using the navy furniture and white walls as an anchor. The fireplace was originally brick and made the space seem dark and small, so we painted it white to match the walls. This added a lot of light to the space and really helped open it up.
